I Saw Trees and Soldiers With Missing Limbs 

During the war in Afghanistan, the news started to cover soldiers returning with amputations. One spring, as I walked through a park, I noticed that the trees had just been trimmed and the cuts were very raw, reminding me of the soldiers. That's how this series began. All the pieces are 14" x 11.25" are done with oil stick.
